Niantic Games recently introduced Shadow Raids to Pokemon Go, which allows trainers to take on tough Shadow Raid bosses and catch new Pokemon partners.

Players can also invite their buddies to increase their chances of success in the event. Although it’s worth noting that trainers cannot join Shadow Raids with Remote Raid Passes. However, some are unhappy.

Pokemon Go Purified Gems not applying properly in some Shadow Raids

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9), multiple Pokemon Go players are facing an issue where ‘Purified Gems’ are not applying properly in some Shadow Raids.

Apparently, this is happening because of latency-related issues. Purified Gems allow gamers to calm down the larger and scarier Pokemon that they face during raids and save them from Team Rocket.

However, players claim that the gems don’t work properly after applying and don’t lower the enrage boosts unless the boss is fully subdued. On the flip side, some are even unable to use the gems from the items menu.

This is, without a doubt, a piece of bad news for all those who have specially purchased a Raid Pass for use in this event. And to make matters worse, the in-game support also does not work properly.

A gamer complains that the purified gem count does not decrease even when they apply it multiple times. The issue has been persistent for a day or two and affects players across Android and iOS.

And understandably, those affected have taken to Reddit and Twitter to express their concerns.

@NianticHelp @NianticLabs why can’t I activate purified gems when I go in the items menu in the raid lobby?

Gamers are now requesting the developers to fix this glitch so that they can enjoy playing the game as intended.

Official acknowledgment

Luckily, the Niantic support team on Twitter has officially acknowledged this issue and assured that the unused gems will automatically return to the players’ item bag.

Potential workaround

A Redditor suggests that you do not attack while trying to use or apply the gem. As per the claims, the gem fails to apply if one attacks continuously.
