A recent Google Pixel update appears to have triggered glitches causing connection issues between Galaxy Watches and Pixel devices. Reports have surfaced on Reddit detailing difficulties in using the Galaxy Wearable app and maintaining smartwatch connections after the January 2024 Pixel update.

Interestingly, the problem seems focused solely on Galaxy Watches, with other wearables like Galaxy Buds 2 Pro apparently functioning normally within the app. Wear OS-powered Galaxy Watch 4, 5, and 6 models are all reportedly affected, experiencing disconnections and failing to re-establish connection with Pixel phones. Below is a video shared by one of those affected on Reddit.

Adding to the mix, reports indicate similar issues with the Galaxy Wearable app on some Samsung Galaxy phones, though details here are conflicting. For these devices, the app may crash or get stuck in an infinite loading loop. Curiously, some users claim that reverting their phone’s date to 2023 and then changing it back temporarily resolves the issue, but quick fixes like this can have negative side effects so proceed with caution.

Despite the overlapping symptoms, a connection between the Pixel and Samsung phone issues remains unclear. Also, neither Samsung nor Google has acknowledged the issues, leaving users in the dark regarding a potential fix timeline. Until official solutions emerge, Galaxy Watch owners on Pixel devices, and some Samsung phones might have to keep dealing with continued connection woes and app instability.

The exact cause of the Pixel-specific connection issue remains unclear. While the timing suggests a link to the January update, the wider Galaxy Wearable app issues add a layer of complexity. For Pixel users, the January update seems to be the catalyst, but a fix is more likely to come from a Samsung app update, as it would offer a quicker and wider solution. After all, the issue might be related to what’s happening with Samsung phones and Galaxy Watches too. Otherwise, affected Pixel users will have to wait until February for a Google patch.
