Google has begun rolling out updated weather icons in the At a Glance and Weather widgets for Pixel users, finally bringing them in line with the modern design seen in the updated weather page introduced last year.

Google rolled out a stunning overhaul to the Weather page UI with fancy new weather visualizations and detailed information to Pixel users back in October 2023 before expanding this redesign to other Android users in December. However, for some reason, the sleek icons that came as part of this redesign have been missing from weather and At a Glance widgets, creating a bit of a jarring disconnect. But this is finally coming to an end because Google is fixing this inconsistency as I pen this.

Some lucky users have already spotted the updated icons gracing their widgets, while others might need to wait a bit longer. The rollout appears to be happening gradually, possibly through a server-side switch, so don’t fret if you haven’t seen the change yet. It’s likely coming your way soon, but we can’t give you any timelines, especially since no amount of tricks we tried enabled the new icons, be it updating the Google app to the latest version or force-stopping and the restarting it. Below is a screenshot of what I see on the Pixel 7a running the latest Android 14 QPR3 beta 1.

This update means a more cohesive weather experience across your Pixel devices, with the same visual language now present on the main weather page, widgets, and other weather-related features. You don’t have to deal with outdated icons anymore – just a consistent and visually pleasing representation of the current weather conditions.

While specific details about the global rollout timeframe remain under wraps, it’s exciting to see Google continue refining the weather experience on Pixel devices. So, keep an eye on your widgets, and when the update arrives, enjoy the fresh new look!
