New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on February 28, 2022) follows:

The Philips Hue range consists of several color-changing LED lights that can be controlled via Bluetooth or using Wi-Fi. Introduced in 2012, the products are manufactured by Signify N.V.

Unsurprisingly, the company has also developed an app for Hue devices that helps control these smart lights while offering some additional features. Users can easily group several lights into zones, control them from anywhere or use scenes to light up their rooms.

Philips Hue Lights off widget not working

The developers frequently update the app and bring in new features or improve existing ones. But sometimes, users encounter some bugs and issues making it impossible to use some functions.

And as it turns out, Android users who updated to the latest version of the Philips Hue app are now reporting (1,2,3,4) that the Lights off widget is not working.

Although the lights toggle if you open the app and turn it off from there, many say that the widget shows as off even if they are on. This seems to be frustrating a lot of people since the widgets are useless right now.

It is interesting to note that this is not the first time the Philips Hue app has had issues with widgets. Back in June last year, many reported that widgets stopped working after the v4.0 update, which completely overhauled the app UI.

the app is buggy and slow. it takes ages for it to load while connected on another network. The widgets are tapped. they take too much screen space, very annoying to set up and almost always get stuck showing the off button even if the lights are already off. Even the products are terribly expensive and break by themselves. Nothings seems to work well with Phillips anymore.

Android widgets stopped working today
Hello Today almost all of my widgets stopped working, one still works, the turn of all lights. The ones for single bulbs won’t work and if I create a new one that does not work either. Anyone else having this problem? I’m running Android 12 on a Samsung Galaxy S21 and v.4.13.0 of the official Hue app.

Looking at the reports, it seems that the majority of users affected by the issue are running Android 12. Fortunately, Philips Hue app developers have acknowledged the issue and said they are already working on a fix.

Thank you. This is currently a known issue, and we are working on a fix.

Fix for Bluetooth issue already in the works

It looks like some users are also facing Bluetooth issues with devices connecting and disconnecting every once in a while.

@tweethue the BT bulbs are awful! I cannot keep them connected with my iPhone and the BT app (the app shows they connect and disconnect constantly). I simply want to change my smart switch ‘Hue’ button to not blind me we I press it. No help articles online about this, seems common

Once again, the developers have acknowledged the issue and said they are working on a solution. However, there is no ETA for the fix.

Thanks for letting us know. We are aware of an issue with the current Bluetooth update and are working on a fix. You should be able to control the light without updating it in the meantime. Apologies for the inconvenience.

As always, we will be keeping an eye out on the matter and update this space when the Philips Hue Android app issues are resolved so keep checking this space.

Update 1 (March 9)
