Bugs occur in various forms ranging from little annoying issues to big problems that cause hardware to be rendered useless by getting bricked.

Also worth noting is that no tech product is immune to software bugs as we’ve seen many popular brands suffer from various bugs and issues.

OnePlus maintains a pretty small portfolio of devices and one would expect that the company would be able to iron out many of the kinks quickly.

While the company is obviously trying to address many of these issues, there are a few other bugs that seem to be cropping up all the time.

Today, it is coming to light that various OnePlus devices now have an issue where long-pressing the volume button to reduce or increase the volume doesn’t seem to work.

observed that when using headphones, instead of one long continuous press the volume button need to be pressed multiple times to increase or decrease volume .problem continues even after headphone is removed from jack . i have started facing this problem recently.

When connecting wired headphones, the volume button long press does not work properly. Continuously holding the button doesn’t even bring up the volume slider. The button has to be repeatedly pressed in order to increase or decrease the volume. When the headphones are disconnected and audio is played through normal phone speaker, the buttons work fine. Long press of the volume button increases/decreases the volume properly.

According to affected users, this issue started afflicting them recently and now they’re forced to press the volume rockers several times to adjust the volume when using earphones.

This, as it turns out, is an issue with the Google Assistant, and thanks to one of the users on Reddit, there might be a way around this.

To restore the original volume controls, you have to turn off Google Assistant for that device.

– Go to your phone’s settings.
– Go to Google settings.
– Select “Account services”.
– Select “Search, Assistant & Voice”.
– Select “Google Assistant”.
– Select “Devices: Devices that are linked to your Assistant”.
– Select the device from the list.

Turn off “Get help from Google”.

However, this doesn’t seem to solve the issue for other OnePlus users facing this issue on their devices even without their earphones plugged in.

The issue has been reported by users with various OnePlus devices including but not limited to the:

OnePlus 8T
OnePlus 7 Series
OnePlus 5
OnePlus 6 Series
OnePlus Nord

Some users have had success resolving this issue with a fix as simple as restarting the affected devices but others haven’t been quite as lucky.

For the OnePlus 6 series of devices, some of the users note that they started experiencing this issue following the recent update to OxygenOS 10.3.7.

After software update 10.3.7 in OnePlus 6T volume button is working abnormally. When we press the volume button continuously volume will get reduced . That action is not working and when we press for every single time it works. This issue was not there before update and I assume this may not be hardware issue because buttons will either work or fail to work but this is working but not as before.

For the OnePlus 7, this is reportedly caused by the update to the December security patch while reports from affected OnePlus 8T users (1,2,3) don’t seem to hint to specific update.

We shall continue to keep an eye on this issue and update as and when we get more info so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
