We live in an increasingly connected age and our content consumption is evolving as well. Gone are the days of traditional media. Today, content streaming is all the rage and that needs a new breed of devices, Smart devices.

Smart TVs are not new. Traditional TV makers like Sony, Hisense, and TCL all have Smart TVs but in the recent past, we have seen a new breed of players who know a thing or two about smart devices moving into the Smart TV turf.

Nokia and OnePlus are better known for their smartphones but bith companies also have Smart TVs to their names.

OnePlus TV has been around for a couple of months now and these devices offer so much value for money. Over the period that they’ve been in the market, OnePlus has pushed out a number of updates to these units. Today, OnePlus is rolling out yet another update, this time to the OnePlus Y-series TVs. This update brings a bunch of new features including support for Amazon Alexa and the optimization of audio quality, OnePlus Connect, and more. Below is the update’s complete changelog.

It is impressive to see just how OnePlus is able to push out regular updates to its OnePlus TV, just like it has been doing with its smartphones. The Smart TV market is proving to be a rather interesting one to watch as these new players continue to shake things up with their experience from the mobile industry.

We can therefore only hope that traditional TV makers step up their game and borrow a leaf from these new players, taking advantage of the connected age to better their product even after the sale.
