In case you missed the headlines over the past couple of days, OnePlus is ditching its HydrogenOS in China in favor of its sister brand Oppo’s ColorOS.

In the release statement, the company made it clear that moving forward, new OnePlus devices will run Oppo’s ColorOS in its home market of China while the rest of the world would still get OxygenOS.

Now, the recently launched OnePlus 9 devices already come with Oppo’s ColorOS in China, which makes sense since the devices share quite a lot with Oppo’s own Find X3 devices.

Since then, we have seen OnePlus release an early build of ColorOS 11 for users of the OnePlus 8 in China who would like to take this new build for a spin.

In the release statement for this build, OnePlus alluded to the fact that we’d see the same treatment extended to other older OnePlus devices in mainland China.

Well, the announcement that was expected to come at the official launch of OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro is here and now, we have a list of older OnePlus devices that will indeed get updated to ColorOS.

According to a post that has also been published on OnePlus’ official Weibo page, these OnePlus devices will get updated to ColorOS.

– OnePlus 7
– OnePlus 7 Pro
– OnePlus 7T
– OnePlus 7T Pro
– OnePlus 8
– OnePlus 8 Pro
– OnePlus 8T

We still don’t have any concrete timelines for when OnePlus plans to roll out ColorOS to these OnePlus devices but the company is no-doubt working towards this.

In the meantime, the company assures its users on HydrogenOS 11 that their devices will continue to receive updates and get maintained so users don’t really have much to worry about.

We shall continue to keep an eye on this and update as and when we get more info so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
