OnePlus 7 has recently been updated to Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 and already, it is looking far more reliable compared to the update we saw the OnePlus 8 bag back in October 2020.
However, that is not to say that there haven’t been issues with this build. A few issues have dogged this device throughout the development phase and even into the stable release, an example being the AoD feature.
Today, it looks like OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro users are still facing an issue with their devices, an issue to do with the adaptive brightness feature.
Apparently, this has been an ongoing issue for OnePlus 7 users but the issue seems to have worsened following the recent Android 11 update.
According to affected users, their devices either get very low or abnormally bright in day-to-day usage, effectively rendering this feature useless as users now have to manually adjust the brightness.

After the update, adaptive brightness stopped working. I have to manually move the brightness slider to adjust it. These are the 2 bugs I found on my device after the update.

This issue seems to have been affecting users of the said devices heavily starting with the Open Beta builds of OxygenOS 11.
At the time of writing, we still didn’t have any acknowledgement of this issue from OnePlus and as such, we still don’t know when it is likely to be addressed.
In the meantime, reports continue to trickle in from users who are finding this adaptive brightness feature on their OnePlus 7 units a bit useless.
