The Android One project was reborn with Mi A1 – the first non-MIUI phone from Xiaomi. Initially Google had a much tighter control over reference design and OTA delivery, but the OEMs now have maximum dominance in case of second gen Android One phones.

Now here is an interesting trivia: a majority of the new age Android One phones are nothing but a rebranded version of the existing devices. The stance can be clearly seen with Xiaomi phones, including 2019’s Mi A3.

Lenovo backed Motorola is known for shipping close-to-stock Android on their phones, but they are now considered as one of the worst in terms of regular security updates. They followed the footsteps of Xiaomi, and rebranded their China specific P30 lineup with Android One tag for global markets.

The gigantic battery (5,000 mAh) can be speculated from the ‘Power’ moniker, but the phone feels absolutely powerless (pun intended!) in real life scenarios. Issues such as broken fast charging and delayed OTA are bugging Motorola One Power owners across the world.

While Indian users started to receive the July security patch at the end of last month, the situation is worse in other regions. Users are reportedly stuck with May/June patch level for a long time without any indication of new OTA(s).

Received June security patch update in July 10, is this kind of joke?. Please follow the Google guidelines or else stop tie-in with Android one.
