New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on March 06, 2021) follows:

We had previously highlighted how new feature additions have gotten scarce lately indicating an imminent MIUI 12.5 release. After all, the first devices are scheduled to get the update soon during early Q2 2021.

Hence, Xiaomi is now seemingly focusing on optimizing and polishing the existing stuff on the MIUI 12.5 beta builds rather than stuffing it with new features with almost every new build like they were doing a few weeks back.

A good indicator of this are the last few updates, MIUI 21.3.3 for example, which have only brought about assorted bug fixes at the system level and for various MIUI apps as well.

However, the latest MIUI 12.5 beta 21.3.5 took us by surprise. The update has brought about a bunch of nature-inspired notification tones based on various animals from across the globe.

As clear from the above, the notification sounds are grouped into sections, each representing a region and the animals found in them. And boy, are the animals exotic. I myself have never heard of the Skywalker hoolock gibbon.

Now, Xiaomi did claim during their MIUI 12.5 launch event that the update will bring about some 120 nature-inspired notification sounds. However, subsequent MIUI 12.5 builds only had 74 of those, at least until now.

With MIUI 12.5 beta 21.3.5 update, 46 new animal sounds have been added, thus completing a total of 120, just as promised on the launch event. Good luck with choosing your favorite among the plethora of available choices!

That said, unfortunately, the download links for the 21.3.5 build have not been made available yet. Although users that are a part of the Chinese beta program should receive an OTA soon if they haven’t already.

Of course, all these goodies including the nature-inspired notification sounds are currently only available to those on the Chinese MIUI 12.5 beta channel. But they should make it to your device as well real soon if it’s eligible.

To ensure your device’s eligibility, be sure to check out the official list given out by Xiaomi during the MIUI 12.5 global launch event.

However, if you are not a fan of waiting and want to get a taste of MIUI 12.5 by any possible means, then you will be pleased to know about the Xiaomi.eu MIUI 12.5 community builds.

Nonetheless, for now, be sure to keep an eye on our dedicated MIUI 12.5 update tracker so that you don’t miss out on any new developments.

Update 1 (March 08)

06:40 pm (IST): A changelog for the MIUI 12.5 beta 21.3.5 update has now been made available along with a wide rollout for supported devices. The Mi 11 has been omitted from the list though due to reboot issues upon turning on USB debugging.

The update brings about a bunch of changes to Xiaomi AI Classroom as shown below:

1. Xiao Ai’s translation is newly upgraded, text translation is more convenient, and desktop shortcuts are supported.
2. Added support for home class, online class video synchronization learning.
