Xiaomi is now a household name in India. First, the Chinese company went after the smartphone market, pumping phone after phone into the market. Some come in disguised under different brand names like POCO, with their good feature set and affordable prices the major selling points.

In the past year or so, Xiaomi has been replicating this same idea in the smart TV market and to say it has been a success would be an understatement. Since arriving in India in early 2018, Xiaomi has released multiple Mi TVs into the market rich in features yet priced relatively affordable.

To stay on the edge, Xiaomi has also been working out regular software updates for its line of Mi TVs. More recently, we reported about the release of Android Pie to the 32-inch and 43-inch Mi TV 4A models.

This update came after the company pushed a similar update to the Mi TV 4A Pro and Mi TV 4C Pro. Today, the same Android Pie update is now available to download on four more Mi TVs, this time the 4K models.

The latest Mi TV Android Pie update should be headed your way as build number 3953 and besides the new OS and October patch, the changelog also mentions a few other interesting additions that include support for Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. The OTA update weighs in at about 830MB.

Interestingly, the tweep who shared the above screenshot says after they’ve installed the latest Mi TV Android Pie update on their 55-inch 4X Pro model, the promised Netflix support is nowhere to be seen.

Just got the update for my Mi 4x Pro 55 inch but after updating it seems that it doesn’t have Netflix app in it. Only Amazon Prime Video app is there. While it clearly shows on the Update patch that it has Netflix. Disappointed after waiting this long for the update. ?

His sentiments have been echoed by several other Mi TV owners who have picked up the new Android Pie update, with some even reportedly experiencing a few more issues other than the missing Netflix support.

I updated and it went through fine. I found prim video and it is working fine. Unfortunately I didn’t find Netflix. Is it intentional? Couldn’t find in playstore as well

#MiTV4x 50inch fix for these?
1. Hotstar/Netflix/PrimeVideo all shows interface/subtitles, sounds good BUT no content visuals_NO VIDEO need to reboot a few times to get them working again.
2.Apps like SonyLiv lose credentials after every boot.
3. Wifi Notification Bug.

Apparently, a restart should fix some of the problems you might be experiencing after the Mi TV Android Pie update, but for those missing the Netflix app, another update may have to be pushed to include this app, especially since it’s also missing from the affected TVs’ Google Play Store app.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
