A month ago Xiaomi released the stable Poco F1 Android 10 update to select users. A little over a week later, the wider rollout of the OS started suggesting that the company was satisfied with the stability of the firmware.

To date, though, the Poco F1 Android 10 update isn’t available for everyone. Some are still waiting for the OTA to arrive in the coming days or weeks for that matter.

While you can always sit back and wait for this update, those who have had enough waiting can already try another way of getting the Poco F1 Android 10 update – custom ROMs.

lineage os 17

So far, there already exist several Android 10-based custom ROMs for the Poco F1 and things are just getting better. Not long ago, the popular LineageOS added support for the Poco F1 to its latest Android 10-based ROM version 17.1, albeit unofficially.

The official LineageOS 17.1 isn’t available yet, but not for long. Until then, you can try the unofficial LineageOS 17.1 on your Pocophone F1 and enjoy all the goodness of Android 10 alongside the plenty of useful customizations from Lineage.

According to the developer, all the basic functions are okay after the update, including Camera (and flashlight), WiFi, Bluetooth, Telephony (Calls and Data), Audio (Record and Playback), Video Playback, Sensors, and GPS, among others.

The developers behind the unofficial LineageOS 17.1 ROMs for the Redmi 5A and Pixel 2 XL say everything is in good shape except for the case where SELinux is permissive on the former and Active Edge support, which won’t be added at any point, is missing on the latter.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
