Multiple reports are surfacing, claiming that the Discord crashes whenever users try to use or search for emojis or emotes. The team is aware of the situation, and until they issue a solution, here’s a workaround.
Discord crashing while typing and searching for emojis and emotes?
Discord is a popular communication platform that allows users to interact with each other using text, voice, and video chat. It is often used by gaming groups, schools, and various other communities to stay connected and share information.
Recently, the platform has been facing serious criticism from users. With the latest update, it introduced multiple new features that were not well received. This included a swipe-to-reply feature that received a negative reception.
Currently, multiple reports are flooding in, claiming that Discord is crashing every time users try to type or search for emojis and emotes in the chats. The issue has frustrated many users and made them reluctant to use the messenger.
There have also been reports of Discord users not being able to connect their accounts on the Xbox console.
Official acknowledgement and workarounds
As the reports piled up, the official support team of Discord became aware of it. In an official statement on social media, the team announced that they are working on a fix for the emoji issue as well as the Xbox connectivity issue.
However, there is no official ETA or release date available for the fix so far. That’s why, until the devs work on a solution, here are some workarounds:
- If you own any server with a “:default:” emote, you should remove or rename it. If you know any server with a “:default:” emote, you should contact the server owner and ask them to do the same. Canceling Nitro may potentially solve the issue as well, as it removes your ability to search for custom emotes from other servers.
This is not an official solution, so there is no guarantee that it will work or not.
