The Google Pixel 8a launch is right around the corner, and we’re learning more about the upcoming mid-range darling with each passing day. The latest information comes from a Bluetooth ISG certification, which confirms not only Bluetooth version 5.3 akin to the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro but also reveals four distinct model numbers for the Pixel 8a: G8HNN, GKV4X, G6GPR, and G576D.
Mirroring its predecessor, the Google Pixel 7a, the multiple model numbers suggest that Google may release slightly different versions of the Pixel 8a across global markets. The Pixel 7a has four models sold in the US through Verizon (G0DZQ), global (GHL1X), Japan (G82U8), and a final model available in Canada, USA, India, Singapore, and Taiwan (GWKK3). Based on the release pattern of the Pixel 7a, here’s a breakdown of what we might expect from the four Pixel 8a models:
- US carriers: One of the Pixel 8a models is likely tailored for sale through US carriers.
- Google Store: Another model will probably be available directly from the US Google Store.
- Japan: A model could be designed specifically for the Japanese market.
- Global: The remaining model could serve as a global variant for other regions.
Of course, this remains speculation until we get official confirmation from Google. Fortunately, with the anticipated launch next month, we should have definitive answers soon. Stay tuned for more updates on the Google Pixel 8a as they become available!
Meanwhile, the Pixel 8a could get a new challenger in the US from a little-known name in the west called Infinix. Check out this article for more details.
