Google has been giving a lot of importance to AI-processing capabilities in its devices, and has also been integrating AI-powered features into its apps and services. Next on the list appears to be the Google Keep notes app, which will reportedly get a new ‘Help me create a list’ option.

AI-powered ‘Help me create a list’ feature reportedly coming to Google Keep notes app

The leak comes from the 9to5Google team who made an ‘APK Insight’ on the latest Google Keep app version and discovered references to the aforementioned ‘Help me create a list’ feature in development.

Among its many options, Google Keep also allows you to create lists, so integrating a feature that automates this process through a basic initial prompt can be quite useful. Although it had been spotted in October under the name ‘Magic Lists’ by the same source, the latest APK version has renamed it to ‘Help me create a list’, similar to the name of other AI-powered features developed by Google.

The publication suggests that the features will eventually come to Workspace Labs, an experimental program dedicated to testing the AI-powered features that Google is developing, since some are already receiving a pop-up inviting them to sign up.

This is how the feature works

References to the Google Keep ‘Help me create a list’ feature were found in the v5.23.462.05.90 update (now available in the Play Store). Once available, the option will appear as a floating button after creating a new note.

If you click on the option, you will receive some suggested prompts in a text box, although you can also write a custom one. Then, the app will generate a list based on the prompt you type.

For instance, the 9to5Google team chose the ‘Steps for brewing great coffee’ prompt, to which the Google Keep app generated a list of instructions related to that. According to the source, it does not seem that Google wants these AI-powered lists to offer detailed or in-depth results, but rather a starting point that you can later expand or complement on your own.

Finally, due to the current state of development of the feature, the source suggests that it may not take long for it to be available to everyone. We just have to wait to see if this comes true and if all Google Keep users will soon be able to enjoy this useful ‘Help me create a list’ option.
