Original story (published on July 22, 2022) follows:

With more than 4.1 billion users worldwide, Gmail is one of the world’s most popular email services. Ever since its launch back in 2004, the platform has grown rapidly and is showing no signs of slowing down.

But like the majority of Google products, the service has had its fair share of bugs and glitches like some users recently getting ‘Do you want to continue receiving messages from this sender’ prompts.

While the developers seem to be working hard to fix problems like these, Gmail users are now reporting that they are unable to send or receive emails.

The problem is affecting random accounts with no apparent explanation (1,2,3,4,5). It is interesting to note that those facing the issue have no filters set and have enough storage space available.

I am not receiving emails from a specific person. My father is trying to forward and send me email but I am not getting them. I can receive emails from everyone but his specific email address. This is on both of my email accounts. I have checked all my junk folders and I haven’t blocked or restricted his email address. Could it be an issue with the device I am revive emails on? Or something these? Any help would be appreciated, thankyou.

Email sent didn’t go to all staff. My Head of School sent an email yesterday at 9:45am. Myself and our administrative assistant are the only ones who received it. She wasn’t aware other staff weren’t receiving it until the evening hours (8:00-9:00pm same day). She had emailed these same people within the same working day, but only THAT email wasn’t received by everyone. How could this have happened?

As it turns out, Gmail developers seem to be unaware of the issue where users are unable to send or receive emails. We hope they soon find out the root cause of the problem and fix it at the earliest.

Rest assured, we will be keeping track of developments on the matter and update this space accordingly so stay tuned.

Update 1 (July 28)

12:48 pm (IST): Google support has allegedly confirmed that this is a bug on their end and they are working to resolve it.
