The highly anticipated ‘Unsubscribe’ button, which was first spotted in Gmail for Android last November, is finally rolling out widely to all Google Pixel and other Android users. This change brings the mobile app in line with the web version, making it easier than ever to escape the clutches of unwanted mailing lists.

Prior to this update, Android users often faced a frustrating hunt for the unsubscribe option, typically relegated to the email’s footer in tiny text. This inconvenience is now a thing of the past, as the prominent ‘Unsubscribe’ button now sits conveniently next to the sender’s address, mirroring the experience on Gmail’s web interface and the already-implemented iOS app.

While the update is rolling out now, some users may not see it immediately. Patience is key, as the rollout might take a few days to reach everyone. In the meantime, you can try checking for updates for the Gmail app in the Google Play Store. For iOS users, the wait is already over. The ‘Unsubscribe’ button has been available on the Gmail app for iPhone and iPad since last month, offering a consistent unsubscribe experience across all platforms.

This update is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to improve the Gmail experience for users on all devices. Just recently, we saw the potential addition of an option to manage subscriptions and report illegal content from within the app. But these features are still hidden behind special flags. With the ‘Unsubscribe’ button now readily available, managing your inbox just got a whole lot easier, no matter which phone you use.
