The 18th installment in the long-running Call of Duty franchise, Vanguard, seems to be affected by similar technical issues as its predecessors did. With that being said, it looks like changing the development studio to Sledgehammer Games did not help Activision.

It is interesting to note that both Warzone and Vanguard are built on the IW 8.0 engine. The game was released on November 5 and has more bugs and issues than the number of days since its launch.

Dev Error 5573

Talking about bugs, it looks like the infamous ‘Dev Error 5573’ is here to haunt Vanguard players. It was first reported in COD Warzone and took the developers several months to release fixes concerning the same.

@SHGames @Activision I can no longer play #Vanguard thanks to Dev Error 5573. I deleted the game and reinstalled and still get the error. System Software is up to date on my PS5. Any help?

This happen to me 5 matches in a row. It’s not letting me play anymore. “Dev Error 5573” I restart app, turned off my PS5 and tried it again. Still same thing. Anyone else having this issue??! @CallofDuty @charlieINTEL #CallofDutyVanguard #vanguard #cod

Many say they have tried verifying the game files, reinstalling and updating their graphic drivers but these generic solutions do not seem to work.

Fortunately, Activision has found a workaround that seems to have fixed Dev Error 5573 for many. The developers say that the crashes might be resolved by using the default operator skin.

Error code Vivacious

Apart from Dev Error 5573, Vanguard players have also reported getting Error code Vivacious. Players say they encounter the error whenever they try to launch the game. It is still unclear what is causing the issue.

@ATVIAssist what’s the fix on Vivacious on PC? I got it on Day1, next day it magically started working. Now I’m getting it again! Reinstalling worked the first time but no longer. Switching to Vanguard from CoD:CW main menu just opens the launcher.

@ATVIAssist downloaded vanguard on ps4. Was playing until it said “checking for update” mid game. I’m getting error code “vivacious” and it won’t let me connect online now. I check for updates but it says “the installed application is the latest update”. Any idea what’s going on?

Fortunately, Activision seems to be aware of the issue and said that reinstalling the game might fix the issue. Some players letting the shaders fully install before accepting the last message worked for them
.
