However, users face various issues with the platform every now and then. For instance, some recently reported that Discord embeds with Twitter links stopped working for them.

And now, a peculiar glitch is causing confusion among users where Discord is misidentifying a Windows search app as a Steam game.

Discord detecting ‘Everything’ as a Steam game

According to reports, users have noticed an anomaly within the platform whereby launching the “Everything” Windows search app results in Discord incorrectly labeling it as a Steam game (1,2,3,4).

As I said, why is the “Everything” app detected as a game by Discord? I’m using the Discord for Windows. Today I found this queer thing.

“Everything”, the windows searching program, is not a game.
I can’t remove it from my registered games which is dumb if you ask me.

Everything is a Windows search engine that swaps out the standard search for one that is much faster. But for some reason, Discord is mistakenly identifying it as a Steam game raising concerns about its reliability and accuracy.

Apparently, given that the executable file’s name is the same as a game, Discord assumes that it is ‘Everything’ game. The same thing occurs to those who play the remote-controlled racing game Revolt, also known as Re-Volt.

It’s probably Everything Search, as the exe is named the same as a game, Discord thinks that’s the game. The same happens to people who use Revolt, which is interpreted as Re-Volt, the remote cars racing game

Although this error can appear unimportant at first, it can cause confusion and miscommunication within Discord communities.

Discord’s dev team must address this issue promptly. They need to find the root cause of the misidentification and analyze the specific parameters that lead to the confusion between “Everything” search and a Steam game.

Meanwhile, you can try renaming the EXE file. One of the affected users had a similar problem with the Borderless Gaming and inserting random letters to the .exe helped Discord recognize it correctly.
