The release of Diablo 4 was met with excitement and anticipation from fans worldwide. However, the euphoria quickly turned into disappointment and frustration when the ‘1.1.0 Patch’ was introduced.

This update was meant to fine-tune and improve various aspects of the game, but instead, it triggered a firestorm of controversy within the player base.

The primary cause of the backlash was the extensive nerfs that the patch brought to damage, survivability, utility, and XP (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10).

Prior to the patch, Helltide chests were challenging but reasonably attainable. However, the latest changes have made them prohibitively expensive, requiring an additional 75 Cinders for each chest.

With the same drop rate as before, players now face increased costs to access these coveted rewards, leading to frustration and a sense of unfairness.

Moreover, instead of introducing new, complex, and challenging endgame content for players to strive for, the patch brought a sweeping 50% nerf to player power across the board.

This move caught many players off guard, as they had been eagerly awaiting the addition of more endgame content, not a curtailment of their capabilities.

Instead of providing fresh incentives to engage in endgame activities, players felt that the developers had simply made it harder and longer to reach these milestones.

Seriously @Diablo team, what’s up with the XP Nerf in Diablo 4?! Grinding for hours just to level up is not fun or rewarding. We want to enjoy the endgame content and farm gear, not feel like we’re stuck in an endless leveling-up grind.

The discontent among the player base intensified when they realized that the developers had nerfed not only powerful damage builds but all classes.

This decision left players feeling like their investment in mastering particular classes and builds had been invalidated, resulting in a lack of diversity and reduced enjoyment in gameplay.

Furthermore, players reported that the changes significantly impacted gold farming, rendering normal dungeons irrelevant due to the drop rate nerf compared to Nightmare Dungeons.

Additionally, boosting, a method previously used to expedite progress, was heavily nerfed, leading to a profound sense of discouragement and stagnation in character development.

The patch’s changes weren’t limited there. Players also noticed a 90% nerf to the experience bonus for killing monsters of higher levels, making leveling up significantly slower and more tedious.

@Blizzard_Ent Your recent patch for Diablo 4 level locked world tiers, and reduced the ability to gain xp morphing D4 into little more than an idle clicker mobilesque game. It no longer resembles the first two games that the franchise is built upon. I would refund if possible.

Moreover, critical and vulnerable damage saw significant reductions of 17% and 40% respectively, while inherent affixes on certain weapons were also affected.

Even teleportation out of dungeons saw an unwelcome increase of 2 seconds, causing annoyance and inconvenience during gameplay.

In response to the uproar, devs issued an official statement, acknowledging the dissatisfaction among the player base regarding Diablo 4 ‘1.1.0’ patch nerfs.

While some players expressed concerns over the reduced Cinders drop rate (1,2,3) following the patch, the devs clarified that it was not an intentional nerf but rather a bug.

It’s also been confirmed that they are actively working on a patch to address this issue promptly.
