The Bungie support team recently announced that they are going to roll out a bug fix that will temporarily disable the ‘Weapon Crafting’ for Destiny 2 players.

Destiny 2 has always been a game that prides itself on its ever-evolving world, complex gameplay, and dedicated player base. However, like any online game, it’s not immune to bugs (1,2,3) and exploits.

Likewise, numerous players had discovered an exploit that lets them improve their weapons in ways that the developers never anticipated.

Typically, players should be relieved when such exploits are fixed. But this fix has left the Destiny 2 community somewhat disappointed as it was incredibly fun (1,2,3,4,5).

The game was genuinely more fun with the bug, haven’t felt this encouraged to try harder content, ever. Because bungie’s idea of “difficult content” simply is not fun/enjoyable to me

The bug could be activated by reducing the frame rate to 30fps and quickly switching out exotic or frame features on a weapon. This behavior allowed players to craft their weapons with desired perks.

Most notably, this bug had the ability to equip an aggressive shotgun frame on any weapon. Players could transform their Auto-Rifles, Sniper Rifles, or even Hand Cannons into destructive shotguns.

Basically you could use a bug with crafting to allow a aggressive shotgun frame on any gun. Meaning you could do enough damage solo to 1 phase any boss in a single go

Another example was the creation of weapons that allowed them to shoot multiple bullets per round. This led to moments where players could unleash a torrent of bullets, wiping out anything in their path.

12:53 pm (IST): The Bungie support team recently took to X to announce that weapon crafting will largely go back to expected behaviors, with the 7.2.0.4 update tomorrow.

UPDATE: With the 7.2.0.4 update tomorrow, weapon crafting will largely go back to expected behaviors. Illegitimate frames and perks on crafted weapons will be replaced with legitimate ones and any attempt to craft new out-of-bounds weapons will kick the player to the login screen.
