The Republic of Gamers (ROG) division of Asus got into mobile a couple of years back, and their ROG Phone series have been pretty successful.  However, some users are reporting a recording issue while streaming via their built-in app.

As a result, several users have taken to the official Asus Forums complaining that the Game Genie app is working unexpectedly. Users are getting a “network fails, stop recording” error when trying to stream through it.

Unable to use gamegene to go live on YouTube for every game it says network connection failed stop recording. I attached the screenshot.

Also the recorder is working fine and I tried using some other Third party live streaming apps they all are working fine. Before update it occurred 1 or 2 times but after phone restart it works but this time its not.

In gamegene when we start live streaming there is this “chir chir” noice please try to add some noise cancellation functionality to it like discord.

This happened to me after the update two days ago. I’m using ROG Phone 2, so I don’t think it’s the phone, but Game Genie itself.

If you are facing the above issue, then you are not alone. As apparent from the above comments, the issue is plaguing all users trying to stream via the Game Genie app.

A couple of users have gone as far as factory resetting their phone, but the issue persists. It is advisable to not tinker around with the phone trying to find a fix, as there is none as of now. The problem is with the app itself.

A mod has said that there is nothing that can be done from the user’s side as of now, as shown in the image below. So, you may lay back and simply wait for a bug fix update for the app.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting its currently under review.

For now please try to clear Game genie cache and Air triggers cache and report back if the issue is still there.

Make sure you are on latest software version which is .78, you can check by

Go to setting => About => Software information.

This is a known issue and your developers are looking for a solution.

As clear from the above sources, the mods have reported the ROG phone streaming issue and developers are working on a fix already.

I currently use Omlet while this is being looked into. Probably worth using that while you wait for this issue to be fixed. It works I guess and in conjunction with air triggers.

One user has mentioned the Omlet app, and it may perhaps function as a nice alternative while the issue is being looked into.

Nonetheless, the cause of the issue might have something to do with the YouTube API as stated by a moderator.

Game Genie is no longer updated via Google Play Store, you’re looking an old version of the app.

So far this issue seems connected to the Youtube API and our developers are looking at it.

However, it is worth noting that the issue was raised at the start of October, and it doesn’t seem to have been fixed as of the time of the writing of this story, given the fact that the latest complaint was of today.

For now, the users can only wait and hope for the quick redressal of this issue, fingers crossed.
