Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the latest title in the celebrated Assassin’s Creed franchise. Set between 872-878 AD, the game puts players in the shoes of a Viking named Eivor.

The developers focused on bringing back elements that popularized the franchise such as social stealth while lessening the overall grind. Valhalla is Ubisoft’s second best-selling title of all time.

While Ubisoft is working hard to fix issues such as the bugged ‘Milk of Humankind’ quest and players not getting Jotun armor, new ones surface from time to time.

That said, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players are now saying (1,2,3,4,5) that the bug where Eivor is drunk after loading the game is back. Many find it frustrating to deal with while others say it is mildly infuriating.

While the drunkenness goes away after a minute or so, others say their characters stay drunk no matter how long they wait. As it turns out, Ubisoft had figured out the root cause of the issue last time and said that the bug was linked to the Yuletide festival.

Unfortunately, it looks like the bug is now back haunting players once again. Below are a few reports from Valhalla players complaining about Eivor being drunk whenever they load the game.

Hello there, since the original thread was closed due to the problem apparently being “fixed” and this is not appearing in any of the known bug lists: Ever since this last Julefest (did not have the problem before), Eivor is always drunk when I load into the game. Only teleporting fixes this, which is rather annoying, as I do not always think to log of near a point of teleportation. The drunkeness persists until I teleport, no matter how long I wait.

now when I researched the issue it supposedly only occurred if You participated in the Yule drinking game. Problem is, I never did. I started the game just 2 weeks ago. It appears the bug is triggered by completing a drinking game ANY drinking game and then saving and quitting the game while under the drunk effect. it’s quite annoying and I want to know when this bug is going to be fixed.

Fortunately, Ubisoft Support Staff shed some light on the matter and said Valhalla developers are aware of the issue where Eivor is drunk after loading the game.

They also shared a workaround that requires players to travel to Francia since it is reportedly helping many fix the problem.

Thank you for taking the time to share your report with us! I’ve forwarded this to the dedicated teams for use in the ongoing investigation. Would you be able to try travelling to Francia for us to see if this helps to resolve the issue with Eivor spawning in drunk? A few players have shared that once they traveled to Francia, the issue was resolved for them.
