Coming in Brave Nightly relatively soon, is LaTeX rendering in Leo.

LaTeX lets Leo render mathematical notation as properly formatted equations instead of plain text. That means fractions, exponents, integrals, matrices, Greek letters, and more can all be displayed in a clean,…
Do you use AI to get help with math? Then you might be annoyed by how it’s formatted on many AI platforms. While it has improved over the years, some AI tools still don’t format mathematical equations and symbols properly, leaving the learner confused. Brave is about to fix this issue on Leo AI.
On the current version of Brave (stable), you can see how fractions, powers, and symbols get completely messed up and are presented as text. It’s not the most convenient to read either. This is what’s changing soon.

Through a post on X, Brave has announced that Leo AI will soon get support for LaTeX rendering. For those unaware, LaTeX is a tool that can actually render mathematical symbols and notations properly. It’s a formal document preparation tool used in scientific research, and as a result, is a notable addition to Leo AI.
Instead of representing fractions, equations, powers, integrals, and other math symbols as weird-looking text, it’ll render the equations properly in the correct format.
It’s worth noting that Brave is definitely not the first browser to implement LaTeX rendering. Chrome’s “Ask Gemini” feature already has it, and you can view in the image attached below that it doesn’t mess up formatting.

I’ve checked the latest Brave Nightly Release Notes, and there’s no mention of LaTeX support officially. Since the post on X didn’t mention an ETA, it probably hasn’t been added yet. To confirm, I’ve updated Brave Nightly to the latest version and asked Leo AI a question. v1.96.27 is the latest one at the time of writing.
Unfortunately, mathematical equations still aren’t rendered properly, implying that it hasn’t been added to Nightly yet. It’s still “coming soon.” We’ll update this post in case it actually starts working in Brave Nightly.

In other Brave news, Brave’s search AI got a speed upgrade recently, with claimed accuracy improvements. We covered that and put it to the test versus Google. More on that here.
