Browsing the web has recently changed from keyword-based search to a direct question-and-answer format. Ask Brave is essentially like Google’s Ask AI mode, and it just got an update that claims to improve both speed and accuracy.

Brave announced through a post on X that Ask Brave has been updated, and that it can provide better tailored responses, dive deep into complex requests, and also provide quick answers. The attached post below also includes a demo of it in action.

It’s worth noting that it’s not exclusive to the web version. You can also try it on mobile. Adding two question marks (“??”) after a query in the address will directly send your question to Ask Brave.

Responding to a query about privacy concerns, the Brave account also replied that it’s built with privacy as the top priority. The IP address isn’t retained, and the conversations are encrypted. After 24 hours of inactivity, the conversations are erased automatically as well.

We’ve put the claims of improved speed and accuracy to the test, and I’ve also done a rough comparison with Google’s Ask AI mode. While Brave does demonstrate some improvements, it still takes a bit longer than Google’s system on average.

However, in one of the queries, Google’s AI gave a much faster answer, which heavily compromised accuracy, so it’s a toss-up between both platforms overall. Either way, this was just a rough test and doesn’t exactly replicate the specific queries that Brave may have used to claim improvements in speed and accuracy. You might notice a difference if your query is of a different niche to mine.

If you’re interested in trying out Ask Brave, you can do so from here. You can try it on any browser, and you don’t necessarily have to use Brave just to try this out.

It’s not just the AI search tool that Brave has been working on lately. The latest v1.94.117 update brings some interesting user-facing changes. More on that here.
