Microsoft Edge users can soon log in with Apple ID/Account on Windows and macOS

For the desktop version of Edge, Microsoft is expanding the available sign-in options beyond Microsoft and Google accounts. The company is planning to add support for Apple accounts on desktop.

@Leopeva64 first spotted the change in Edge Canary and posted it on X. It was found that two new flags let you enable the feature, and it’s actually functional.

Earlier this year, we covered a story explaining that the Apple and Google sign-in options were under testing on Edge for Android. However, those were not functional at the time.

Now, in the latest Canary builds (v153), these flags are the ones we’re looking into:

1. Sign in with Apple (edge-swag-m1-apple), which allows Apple sign-in to an Edge profile.
2. Apple Sign-In Button on Profile Menu (edge-enable-apple-sign-in-button-on-flyout), which displays the Apple button in the profile flyout.

Both of these flags must be enabled for the option to work. Once it’s active, the Apple button appears alongside the existing Google one from the sign-in choices. As expected, selecting it opens Apple’s usual authentication page.

If you want to try it in Edge Canary, enter edge://flags in the address bar and search for the two Apple-related flags mentioned above. Just look up the word “Apple,” and they should appear. Set both to Enabled, and relaunch the browser.

The Apple option should then appear in the profile menu.

Microsoft has already documented the feature in the Edge Beta 152 release notes. The notes state that users can sign in to Microsoft Edge using an Apple account in addition to a Microsoft account from the profile menu and Edge sign-in screen. It is available on Windows and macOS. The company labels it a controlled feature rollout, so it will not appear for every Beta user immediately.
