Google is continuing its push to integrate Gemini AI deeper into its browsing ecosystem. Following desktop enhancements, Google is now testing a major productivity feature on iOS that lets users query Gemini with content from multiple open tabs simultaneously.
First reported by The Mac Observer, this capability is currently rolling out in the latest Chrome for iOS TestFlight beta.
How the multi-tab Gemini feature works on iPhone
Google recently introduced an Ask Gemini entry point in Chrome for desktop in the UK. While iOS users are scheduled for next month, testing is already underway. In the latest Chrome beta build, this feature receives a substantial boost in capabilities via a dedicated tab picker interface.

The Chrome for iOS bottom navigation bar features an Ask Gemini button positioned conveniently alongside the New tab (+) and All tabs toggles.
Currently, tapping the + button inside the Gemini prompt interface opens an expanded attachment menu consinsting of Photos, Camera, and Create image (“Make and remix images”), as captured below:
However, in the latest Chrome for iOS beta, Google introduces a dedicated Tabs option.
Selecting Tabs launches an Add recent tabs screen displaying a clean grid overview of recently opened pages. Each tab card includes a quick-selection toggle in the top-right corner, enabling users to choose multiple web pages rather than restricting AI queries to a single active page.
Once selected, the chosen web pages appear as compact visual chips directly above the text input field. Users can type a prompt such as asking for a comparison or a consolidated overview, and Gemini will generate a single, comprehensive response combining information from all tagged tabs.
The entire interaction takes place within an overlay directly on top of the current browsing session, eliminating the need to copy text, switch back and forth between tabs, or jump to a separate AI application.
Closing the gap with desktop Chrome
Gemini in Chrome on desktop already supports analyzing context across multiple open tabs. Bringing this capability to iOS creates feature parity across platforms, providing mobile researchers, shoppers, and students with desktop-grade AI synthesis on their phones.
Google has not yet publicly announced this feature or provided a formal release roadmap. Because it is currently restricted to the Chrome for iOS TestFlight beta channel, it may undergo further refinements before rolling out to the stable version on the Apple App Store.
