Brave has only recently made the Containers feature public, but the company has already shared future improvement plans for it, including traffic control and customization of spaces.

The design engineer at Brave, Agustín Ruiz, shared the upcoming updates to Containers through a post on X.

Ruiz describes three major improvements coming to Containers.

  1. Traffic control: For example, if you want YouTube to always open in a specific container, and Gmail in another, you can configure it that way. It’ll happen automatically, so you don’t have to switch profiles frequently or switch accounts. You can set specific websites to only open in a certain container or space.
  2. Improvements to Spaces: You can separate different workspaces without switching browser profiles.
  3. AI browsing: You can use agentic AI browsing without actually using your main profile and logins.

The post just shared a description of what the company is actively working on. However, the exact release timeline for these features was not specified. The design engineer also encouraged users to share more feedback and suggestions about the feature.

At the moment, you can create your own Containers and give them a name with an icon/color. Existing options are Personal, Work, Social, and School.

For some reason, the feature was disabled by default, and I had to enable the toggle from Settings (via brave://settings/braveContent). If you haven’t tried the feature yet, update to the latest version of Brave and then enable it.

For those unaware, Containers is a feature that Firefox is famous for — you can keep your browsing sessions completely separate, within the same profile. Earlier, if you wanted to use multiple accounts on the same website at the same time, you had to use profiles. This isn’t always convenient either. We covered this feature in further detail here.

In other Brave news, the browser recently hit 121M monthly users. More on that here.
