Firefox 153 Beta 5 is out with 26 bug fixes https://t.co/fsWspSFhuL

The latest Firefox 153 beta just shipped 26 bug fixes, and it includes notable improvements to security/privacy, accessibility, and compatibility.
The full list of changes was officially posted on Bugzilla, and you can individually view each change in further detail by clicking on it. Mozilla also posted about these changes on X.

Notably, a major change is the introduction of automatic SQLite database encryption. This improves privacy, since Firefox automatically encrypts internal databases on your computer. This essentially keeps your browsing history, cookies, and other personal data safe from potential attackers.

Another significant fix: Many users will be happy to know that Discord should load now without issues. Earlier, refreshing the page caused endless loading screens on Discord (and some other websites). This has now been fixed.

The problem was caused by a stencil navigation cache issue, and this update adjusts how cached scripts are processed. As a result, similar “hangs” on Discord and other websites will not occur anymore.
The update also solves problems with window positioning on high-resolution screens. If you use multiple monitors or have your display’s resolution scaled up, you’ll benefit from this upcoming update.
There were also some accessibility changes. On the macOS version, VoiceOver users should easily navigate sites like Spotify without getting stuck. On Android, users playing the LongFox game will notice improved screen reader behavior.
Additionally, the new Smart AI window feature has a better way of sending feedback. Users can now submit structured reports, including chat history.
It’s worth noting that all of these fixes are currently in the beta version. Firefox maintains three channels: Stable, Beta, and Nightly. The stable version is what most people use. Nightly is the most unstable version; it’s highly experimental, gets new features first, and is strictly intended for developers and testers. The beta version sits between these two.
Since these fixes have already made their way to the beta version, they’ll hit stable release channels soon.
Mozilla has a lot of interesting features in store for the rest of the year. For example, the iOS version of the browser will get a built-in ad blocker. The company also hosted an AMA on Reddit to further clarify questions about their 2026 roadmap. You can find information about the AMA here, and the detailed roadmap here.
