A widespread glitch appears to be blocking many X (formerly Twitter) users from posting, locking them out of basic platform functions and showing a persistent “Failed to send” error. The issue has been dragging on for roughly three days and traps people in a frustrating read-only state.

In case you missed it, X recently started enforcing strict new rules for unverified accounts, capping them at 50 original posts a day. Naturally, users assumed they were being penalized by this new system.

A user in one big thread said they were completely unable to post since Saturday morning despite only sending two tweets all weekend. They noted their account is from 2017 with no prior flags.

In another large discussion, a user explained they have not posted in two days and still cannot tweet anything. From what I could deduce reading through the replies, the glitch mostly breaks original posts and quote tweets, while basic retweets still work for some.

A commenter mentioned how damaging this is for smaller creators who rely on the platform to share their art or news. They are actively losing followers simply because they have gone radio silent.

And no, it’s not just these two threads where the issue is being discussed. You can check out more reports on Reddit from frustrated users here: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Similarly, people are complaining about the issue on X itself.

One user even shared multiple screenshots of the notifications they received with the “Failed to send” errors.

I manually checked the profiles of some users who have been complaining about the restriction and can confirm they are nowhere near the “50 original posts” limit that X has set.

Some suspect an automated spam filter is misfiring on older accounts. Others blame a botched app update. X support remains entirely silent on the matter.

It is starting to look like Elon Musk’s tech empire is going through a rough period. Just recently, we covered how his AI startup xAI quietly started throttling usage limits on Grok for paid subscribers. Musk himself later responded to the backlash, noting that usage limits would be increased; more on that here.

Throw in the fact that Musk just lost his high-profile court case against OpenAI, a decision he plans to appeal, and the constant platform bugs on X paint a picture of a company stretched far too thin.

For now, users stuck with the posting error have no clear workaround. Deleting and reinstalling the app does not fix it. People just have to wait and hope X pushes a backend patch.
