Many Grok users have been reporting that the AI platform is currently acting up for them. The issue is affecting both the website and the mobile apps.

Frustrated users are posting about the issue on X and Reddit, asking if anyone else is facing issues with Grok. People are encountering a variety of frustrating glitches.

Even outage tracking websites like Downdetector show a spike in reports suggesting login and app issues with xAI’s chatbot.

A common complaint involves the system failing to recognize active premium subscriptions. Users who already pay for top tiers are being unexpectedly prompted to upgrade or subscribe again to continue.

Others are completely unable to generate new text or image prompts. The system simply throws connection errors or states that it failed to respond. Some individuals have also reported that their entire chat histories and saved projects have suddenly disappeared from their accounts.

We can confirm that this outage is affecting people inconsistently. At least one member of our own team is currently experiencing the same app issues. However, others on the team, myself included, can still use the chatbot without any major problems.

xAI has not yet issued an official statement regarding the downtime. The official status page currently highlights “interference” in the eu-west-1 and us-east-1 servers.

For now, affected users will simply have to wait until the servers stabilize. We will keep a close eye on the situation and provide updates if the company acknowledges the ongoing problems.

This outage comes hot on the heels of the ongoing backlash against the massive drop in usage limits for paying subscribers. More on that here.

I cover fast-moving stories across apps, online platforms, and everyday tech — phones, wearables, consoles, and whatever else people are fighting with this week. Bugs, rollouts, scams, policy enforcement, and the occasional internet-culture rabbit hole are all fair game. My goal is simple — make confusing tech news readable. When I'm not working, I'm working out or chilling with my dog. Got a tip? You can find me on X @dcubbins.
