Google is in the final stages of replacing the standalone Fitbit app with the new Google Health app. As part of this shift, many existing Fitbit Premium customers are receiving email notifications informing them that their subscription will end on May 26, 2026.
A screenshot was shared on Reddit, and it states that users under the age of 18, or located in regions where the new Google Health Premium service isn’t offered, will no longer have access to Fitbit Premium.

Google urges users to cancel their Fitbit subscriptions immediately to avoid unwanted charges for a service that’s no longer offered. After cancellation, users can still access basic tracking features in the free Google Health app, but the Premium features will no longer be available.
Rollout of Google Health begins on May 19, 2026. The new service centers on a Gemini-powered AI Health Coach. Because this feature handles sensitive health data, Google is limiting the platform to users 18 and older, leaving younger Fitbit fans without a path forward.
With support limited to roughly 30 countries and no word on a global rollout, families who purchased Fitbits for children now find themselves with devices that are about to lose half their functionality.

As a result, the r/fitbit subreddit is filled with user frustration. Many people are annoyed that the watch would lose features mid-warranty.
People describe these changes as “stupid” and disruptive, and long-term subscribers who paid for annual plans expecting continued support feel betrayed.
Many people are disappointed with Google’s handling of Fitbit since the acquisition in 2021. Users lament about lost features such as detailed sleep profiles, badges, social communities, snore detection, and more, now compounded by subscription-based access barriers. Some were contemplating switching over to Garmin.

I’d recommend checking your email for any notice, and cancelling the subscription promptly via your App Store settings/Fitbit app settings, and migrating all remaining data to a Google account.
