xAI has quietly pushed Grok 4.3 beta live on the web and mobile apps. The catch is that only SuperGrok Heavy subscribers can actually use it, at least right now.

The new early access build started appearing for users an hour or so ago. It also follows Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.7 release, which went live yesterday. So the timing of this launch is questionable, especially since all the limelight would be on Anthropic’s model.

Either way, after seeing reports about the release, I logged into Grok to check it out myself. I am a standard SuperGrok subscriber and can clearly see the new version listed in the model selector menu.

But it remains completely locked off. You absolutely need the pricier Heavy tier to get your hands on the beta right now.

The @techdevnotes account confirmed that Grok 4.3 can now create slides too.

The rollout is not limited to desktop browsers either. X Freeze reported that the early access build is live across the official iOS and Android apps.

Community reaction is predictably split. Some users are praising xAI for shipping updates at such a relentless pace instead of recycling old features. Others are far less impressed with the paywalling. One user pointed out that Grok still lacks a basic memory feature, making the expensive Heavy tier a tough sell for everyday use.

xAI is clearly trying to match that pace. They are using their highest-paying users as lab rats for the newest models, which some people actually do not mind.

Regular SuperGrok subscribers are stuck waiting. xAI has not given any timeline on when 4.3 will drop the beta tag and reach the standard tiers.

That said, just hours ago, xAI also pushed a much-needed update to the iOS app that adds an animated visual indicator for voice chats. More on that here.
