X Lite for Android now displays images and videos in swipeable carousels. The change ditches the old grid layout that showed multiple photos and videos at once. Users can swipe horizontally through them instead. Each image keeps its full aspect ratio with no cropping. The previous grid view is completely gone.

Several tech enthusiasts shared videos of the new carousel. The first one came from @aditya_A17, who detailed how the redesign removes cropping and streamlines the interface.

A similar video was shared by popular leaker @yabhishekhd, who also clarified that the media limit per post is still 4.

Meanwhile, @Iorel_X noted the shift and floated the idea that X could soon raise the image limit per post.

Reactions split right down the middle. Plenty of users called the carousel more modern and immersive. One replied, “This is good.” Others felt a pang of nostalgia. A reply to one demo read “Nooooo my dear grid I’ll never forget you 😭.”

If you ask me, I think the carousel looks clean. However, the grid was unique in its own right, and the carousel feels like a knock-off from Threads.

At the moment, the new carousel is only on the X Lite app for Android. It isn’t showing up in the standard X app, even with the X Lite experience turned on, at least in my testing.

Separately, Grok’s voice mode on iOS gained a small visual indicator that shows when the AI is actively listening.

xAI engineer @aegeantic posted a demo video. “Unsure if grokkie can hear you in voice mode? We’ve added a small and fun indicator for you on @grok iOS!” he wrote. The cue animates during conversations, so users stop guessing whether Grok caught what they said. Grok’s own account called it “a super fun touch” and credited designers @ryenduu and @iamnalimov.

The tweak fixes a real annoyance in voice chats. Spotty connections or background noise often left people wondering if the mic was live. With this feature, now there’s instant feedback.

Neither change is flashy. But they show both X and xAI teams quietly sanding down rough edges that actually matter to people scrolling or chatting on their phones.

Feel free to share your thoughts on the two new features in the comments below. And on the subject of new features, X might be planning to make a move in the crypto space too. You can read more about that here.
