Roblox has added the option to pay for subscriptions in Robux, alongside the local currency option. This diversifies players’ economic options. Instead of paying with real money, they can pay with their Robux balance. This removes a massive payment barrier for global Roblox players.

Roblox announces subscriptions update.

The official announcement expands subscription access across all platforms and countries. Subscriptions now start at just 49 Robux per month. Moreover, regional pricing ensures fairness across countries. The price of your subscription will match the purchasing parity to match local economies. Creators can adjust the prices every 60 days, with an advance notice to subscribers.

It’s good that players are finally getting this choice, because several preferred Robux over credit cards for in-game transactions. Theoretically, this will also increase creator revenue if it drives more purchases. It’s also worth noting that there are several ways to get free Robux, which is helpful. It’s also completely optoinal, so there aren’t as many downsides.

From the first month onward, developers can keep 70% of the earnings on Roblox subscriptions, and they’ll have to create separate subscriptions for Robux or local currency. Roblox will automatically handle notifications for price changes.

Community reactions this time are largely positive, since Roblox has done something good after several months of controversy. Some practical questions remain, and a few developers are worried that local currency parity adjustment would affect their margins.

Not all the changes they’ve made are great, though. Recently, Roblox retired community group walls. There were also several issues with Dynamic Heads, which you can read about here

This update was issued after building on feedback from creators worldwide, and it opens doors to reach many more paying users. Hopefully, this strengthens the Roblox economy for everyone involved, further improving the experience of players.
