Roblox is fully replacing Classic Heads with Dynamic Heads after a new update, and this was officially announced on the forum. All of the old static faces will now be converted to an animated version that moves and blinks, and players are already starting to notice these changes.

Official announcement for migration.

The transition to Dynamic Heads is complete, and Roblox says that a new menu will allow you to toggle facial animations on or off. You can also swap between the head shapes that you own. For designs of Limited Heads, Roblox has attempted to match the original look as closely as possible.

This forced switch was not well received by long-term fans, since Dynamic Heads change the head shapes as well as eye positions. Many people feel that Classic faces had an originality and nostalgic charm that isn’t there with the new Dynamic ones. As a result, Limited Edition faces have lost millions of Robux value overnight. Classic Faces have also disappeared from sale recently, and this update explains why.

Reactions online to the migration.

The reactions to this were largely negative. Fans are flooding social media with angry posts. The update signifies a symbolic end of an era, and even old URLs redirect straight to the new Dynamic versions. Old hats no longer fit the updated head shapes. People accuse Roblox of doing this for monetization reasons.

It looks like Roblox didn’t think this entirely through, because some games break due to the changes. The freeze animations option still uses the new head models instead of the actual static look from the Classic heads.

Many people on social media found a quick hack to get back the Classic style, for now. Wearing any mask accessory over your face will remove the new Dynamic head animations entirely, resulting in the Classic look underneath.

Quick hack for avoiding the migration.

Roblox might patch this soon, but it’s fun to play around with for now. I’m hoping Roblox tries to retain the old style in some form, but things aren’t really looking good for Classic fans.
