It seems many Grok Imagine users are running into a major roadblock with video generation. Over the past 24 hours, complaints have been flooding Reddit and X about drastically reduced daily video generation limits on xAI’s Grok Imagine feature.

Just two days ago, we covered an outage that left Grok Imagine’s video feature temporarily disabled. But this time it’s different. The service is working, but users are hitting their daily caps far quicker than before. One Reddit user mentioned they reached their limit after making just 15 videos, when they previously could generate dozens without issue. Others are reporting limits as low as 5 to 10 attempts before getting blocked.

Here’s where it gets messier. Multiple users claim that failed generation attempts now count toward their daily quota. So if Grok’s moderation system flags your prompt (which happens frequently, according to complaints), that failure still eats into your limit. You could technically hit your cap without successfully creating a single video. One frustrated user shared they only managed to make one video across four accounts, with the rest being moderation failures.

Free account holders seem to be bearing the brunt of this change. Comments across Reddit threads suggest the limit has dropped from 20-30 successful videos per day down to somewhere between 5 and 15 total attempts. Premium subscribers aren’t completely immune either. Some report experiencing reduced caps, though the impact appears less severe than what free users are experiencing.

What makes this whole situation worse is the lack of transparency. Grok doesn’t display a counter showing how many generations you have left, and xAI hasn’t officially acknowledged the change. When users on X asked Grok’s official account about the new limits, the chatbot denied any reduction, claiming the standard limit remains at 20 per day. That response rings hollow when so many people are clearly experiencing something different.

However, take this response with a grain of salt; Grok is unlikely to provide accurate information on this topic unless xAI supplies the relevant data or makes an official announcement. So, please interpret this response as you see fit.

These complaints started surfacing right after the recent outage. Whether this is a permanent adjustment, a temporary measure to manage server load, or just a bug, nobody knows. For now, users are left guessing and adapting their workflows around limits that seem to shift without warning.
