The honeymoon period for Google’s latest flagship appears to be hitting some bumps. Fresh Pixel 10 owners are reporting frustrating wireless charging problems that range from painfully slow speeds to chargers that simply give up after a few seconds.
What was supposed to be a game-changing feature has turned into a headache for many users. The new Pixelsnap wireless charging system promised to rival Apple’s MagSafe with its magnetic alignment and faster speeds, but these early issues have thrown water on all the excitement.
Reports first spotted by 9to5Google reveal two main problems plaguing the devices. Some users find their phones start charging normally, only to mysteriously stop after mere seconds or minutes. Others are stuck with charging speeds that crawl along at just 5W, which is significantly slower than expected.
The publication mentioned that the culprit seems to be compatibility issues with older wireless chargers, including Google’s own Pixel Stand 2nd Generation. The problem likely stems from the Pixel 10’s switch to Qi2 technology and its new magnetic power profile, which doesn’t play nicely with previous-generation charging pads.
This comes at a time when Pixel 10 owners are already dealing with other teething problems. The device has been hit with pairing issues with Galaxy Watches, Magic Cue not playing nice, and scrolling stutter reports that add to a growing list of early bugs and issues users have encountered.
For now, the best workaround appears to be investing in newer Qi2-certified chargers, though that means additional costs for users who expected their existing setups to work seamlessly.
