Some Pixel 10 users who got their hands on their shiny new phones noticed that they weren’t able to use the Magic Cue feature, which is one of the most popular new additions that Google showed off. I highlighted this bug and plenty of others in my coverage last week.

But it seems there’s a silver lining after all. I spotted a support thread where Google, by way of a Community Manager, has acknowledged that they’re aware of the bug that prevents Magic Cue from working on some Pixel 10 devices.

Reports about users seeing a “Sign in to your Google account to use Magic Cue” pop-up were piling up in the past few days. Moreover, it affected users even in the US and the UK, where the feature is supposed to work out of the box.

The workaround Google suggested involves a few straightforward steps, though it requires some patience. Community Manager Siri Tejaswini recommended that affected users first ensure they have a stable internet connection, preferably WiFi. Next, users should update all their apps through the Play Store, then completely remove their Google account from the device before re-adding it.

The process means going to Settings > Passwords, passkeys & accounts, selecting your Google account, and choosing “Remove account”. After re-adding the account, Magic Cue should start working within about 24 hours.

What’s interesting is that several users discovered their own fixes through trial and error. Some found that having multiple Google accounts on the device was causing conflicts.

One Reddit user shared that removing all accounts except their primary Google account solved the problem immediately. Another user mentioned that switching from a Google Workspace account to a regular Gmail account made the error disappear, though Magic Cue still wasn’t fully functional afterward.

While Google works on a permanent fix, the temporary workaround seems to have mixed results, but you can still give it a shot. The company hasn’t provided a timeline for when a proper patch might roll out, but at least they’ve acknowledged the problem publicly.

This Magic Cue bug adds to the growing list of early Pixel 10 issues, including the Galaxy Watch 8 pairing problems we covered earlier today. It seems like Google’s latest flagship is having some teething troubles that hopefully get resolved soon.
