Google is bringing a handy feature from the Pixel Watch 3 to its predecessors, the Pixel Watch 1 and 2. The revamped charging screen, which debuted on the latest model, is now rolling out to earlier versions, giving users a more informative and polished experience.

The updated charging screen now provides more information than just the time and date, as highlighted by Android Police. It includes additional details such as the month and the time of any upcoming alarms, making it easier for users to manage their schedules. The day and date are neatly organized, with the date on the left and the month on the right. If an alarm is set, it will also be displayed in this space, improving the overall usefulness of the charging screen. Here’s an image shared by a user on Reddit for reference:

However, there’s a catch. This feature seems to be tied to Wear OS 5, meaning users on Wear OS 4 may have to wait a little longer to get it. However, Google has currently paused the Wear OS 5 rollout on Pixel Watches due to some users reporting blank screens following the update. But if you’re still running an older version of Wear OS, the feature may not appear until Google rolls out Wear OS 5 for your watch.

The aesthetic of the revamped screen has also been tweaked. Unlike the previous green-accented version, the new charging interface uses a yellow accent, with the time in white, while the battery percentage remains unchanged. One feature exclusive to the Pixel Watch 3 for now is the estimated time remaining for a full charge, which hasn’t yet made its way to the earlier models.

That said, another useful feature that’s not rolling out to all Pixel watches is the ‘fully charged’ notification that lets you know when your watch is 100% charged. If you’re eager to get this new charging screen, try updating your system apps through the Play Store and rebooting your Pixel Watch. The rollout could take a little time, but it’s a welcome upgrade for owners of Google’s earlier wearables.
