Four new Google smartwatch models have appeared in FCC listings, likely representing the upcoming Pixel Watch 3. The devices, with model numbers GBDU9, GRY0E, GGE4J, and GG3HH, were submitted for regulatory approval ahead of the expected Made by Google 2024 event on August 13.
All four models, spotted by 9to5Google, support Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, significant upgrades from previous Pixel Watch generations which only supported 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The addition of UWB could enable improved location tracking and device-to-device interactions. Two variants include LTE connectivity, while the other two are Bluetooth/Wi-Fi only, providing options for users with different connectivity needs.
The FCC filings back up the previous reports that Google may introduce two sizes for the Pixel Watch 3, with GBDU9 and GG3HH tested with eight bands, while GGE4J and GRY0E list only five. This could indicate 41mm and 45mm options, addressing a common criticism of the previous models’ limited size options.
All models support Bluetooth, NFC, and various WLAN bands. The listings also mention that 2.4GHz WLAN and Bluetooth cannot transmit simultaneously, a common limitation in many wireless devices.
These regulatory filings typically precede an official product launch by a few weeks to a couple of months, signaling that the Pixel Watch 3 is on track for an unveiling at Google’s upcoming hardware event on August 13.
