Google has begun rolling out the May 2024 security update for the Pixel Watch and Watch 2 starting today. This update is all about keeping your watch safe, unlike last month’s update that brought some cool new features like Vibration Watch. While not as exciting, this security patch likely fixes vulnerabilities that might expose your watch to security risks. However, the security bulletin doesn’t yet list the May patch.

The update should show up automatically on your watch under Settings > System > System Updates. If you’re impatient, you can try tapping the “Your watch is up to date” message a few times to force it to refresh. The rollout might take a week depending on your carrier and device model, so don’t worry if you don’t see it right away.

This new software update carries the TWD9.240505.001.A1 build number and is the same for all four Pixel Watch models (LTE/Wi-Fi). For those who like to tinker, you can even download the update images directly.

While this May 2024 update might not be a feature fest, it’s an important one to keep your Pixel Watch running smoothly and securely. It’s also unclear if this update will fix the battery drain issues that appeared after the April update.
