The March Feature Drop brings exciting improvements, most notably the integration of the new Fitbit Workout UI for First-gen Pixel Watch. This upgrade, previously exclusive to the second-generation Pixel Watch, streamlines the fitness tracking experience on the original model.

The pre-update Pixel Watch UI presented information in a side-by-side layout. While functional, this approach could feel cramped. A single, prominent metric dominated the display, with three smaller stats relegated to a second row. Additionally, heart rate zones were visualized through a speed dial-esque ring.

The Fitbit Workout UI completely revamps this system. It prioritizes a clear, glanceable view of key exercise data. Essential metrics like heart rate, calories burned, and elapsed time are now presented in a vertical list. Users can effortlessly navigate through this list by swiping upwards or downwards on the watch screen. This redesigned layout provides significantly more real-time information at a glance, ideal for maintaining focus during workouts.

The update also incorporates subtle design tweaks. The previously circular lock, end, and pause buttons have been transformed into pill-shaped icons. Furthermore, the Daily Heart Rate Tile now boasts a filled-in heart icon, aligning with the aesthetic of the Pixel Watch 2.

To experience these UI improvements, Pixel Watch owners must update the Fitbit app to version 3.19 for Wear OS. The update itself is delivered through the on-watch Play Store. Interestingly, a restart of the Pixel Watch is necessary for the changes to take full effect.

Beyond the UI overhaul, the March Feature Drop offers additional functionalities. Google Maps’ public transit directions for finding best route is now rolling out to more users. This update prioritizes routes ideal for walking and running, making it easier to plan active commutes or explore new areas by foot.

The update also lets users easily track app installation and update progress directly from the app drawer.
