New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on December 19, 2022) follows:
One of the most popular music streaming platforms, Spotify is a one-stop destination for music as well as podcast lovers. The app also receives regular updates that make it more interactive and enriching.
However, that doesn’t mean it is immune to various bugs and issues. For instance, we highlighted the app started crashing on Apple Watch Series 3 recently. A bug also kept pausing or stopping music randomly on the app.
Spotify not playing queued tracks
A number of Spotify users (1,2,3,4,5) are now frustrated with the issue where the platform doesn’t play the queued tracks or is missing the songs that have been added to the queue.
@SpotifyCares will you guys even acknowledge the issue where the queue disappears when you restart the app? This is frustrating

@Spotify @SpotifyCares why does my queue erase and music completely disappear when I pause a song for over 5 minutes?

It seems that the issue occurred after the recent app update and is seemingly forgetting to play the songs lined up in queues. It is rather playing random or shuffled tracks.
Surprisingly, the queue breaks even when someone hits the play button after pausing a song for some time.
This is incredibly frustrating as the broken functionality prompts them to start playlists over and over again.
Unresponsive play button
Apart from the bugged queue feature, the play button or autoplay functionality is also broken as it is unresponsive for several users (1,2,3,4,5).
@SpotifyCares trying to play songs right now but pressing the play button isn’t doing anything. iPhone 13 and just updated app. Tried re-installing with no improvement.

There are also some cases where the play button appears grayed out thus rendering the feature useless.
Screen going blank and random crashes
Lastly, Spotify is also crashing for some users (1,2,3,4,5) with the screen going completely blank sometimes.
My @Spotify has been acting up the last couple of days. What’s going on @SpotifyCares? I just click skip and the screen goes blank or I click to play my playlist and it won’t play

While the crashing and blank screen issues are unrelated, they are still making the entire app unoperational. The crashing issue generally occurs when it is done playing the first song.
Sometimes, the app closes abruptly in the middle of the song, and won’t play any song until the phone is restarted.
Issues acknowledged
Spotify has acknowledged the issues where the queued tracks are disappearing, the screen is going blank, and the play button are not responsive.
However, there’s still no response about the crashing issues. We also haven’t come across any workarounds that can help resolve these issues temporarily.
We’ll keep tabs on further developments and update this article as and when something noteworthy comes up.
