Instagram 'Chat theme' keeps resetting or changing to default for some

Instagram is one of the well-known social media platforms that is used daily by people across the globe. Without a doubt, it makes it easy for one to share their experiences and better connect with the audience.

However, like any other social media platform, Instagram also has its fair share of bugs and issues.

For instance, we recently covered the issues where Pinned Instagram posts were missing or being deleted and ‘Music to Notes’ were not working or showing up after an update.

Now, a new one has surfaced.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple Instagram users are facing an issue where the ‘Chat theme’ keeps resetting or changing to default time and again.

In addition to this, some are unable to see the likes on their posts or change the theme. They assert that the theme reverts to default as soon as they change it.

And this is happening even when one gets a message stating that the theme has been successfully changed.

A section of users also say that the theme changes automatically after a few minutes or when refreshing the chat.

A Redditor claims to be experiencing this glitch ever since they transitioned from Direct to Messages. Even though they are able to reply and react to chats, they cannot see or change chat themes.

People say that the issue has been persistent for the past few days and cannot be resolved even after tinkering with various app settings, or uninstalling and reinstalling it.

It must also be noted that while the chat theme returns to default settings for users, other participants in the conversation can retain their custom topic or chat UI. But unfortunately, those affected are unable to see it.

Guys, instagram is taking a toll on my sanity. Now my Insta chat theme is changing to default on its own a few minutes after I set a theme. Kill me 🙁

And understandably, they are requesting the developers to resolve this problem as soon as possible.
