[Updated] Some Google Pixel users on Android 14 beta update report notifications not appearing in notification bar, issue escalated

Google recently rolled out the new Android 14 beta 3 update that brought platform stability. The update also highlighted new accessibility features and certain privacy upgrades.

However, just like any other update, it has also brought some issues with it, especially for Pixel smartphone users. For instance, we previously saw how Android 14 beta 2 got stuck on ‘Copy Apps & Data’ screen.

A battery charging glitch on Android 14 beta 2 had also come to light for a bunch of Pixel users as well.

Android 14 beta notifications not appearing in notification bar

Some Google Pixel owners running Android 14 beta 3 have now taken to online forums to report an issue where the notifications are not appearing in the notification bar.

I’m getting about half of my notifications, sometimes on the same app – like some WhatsApp messages notify and some don’t. Is this a known bug? (Pixel 6, Vodafone UK.)

Even though users can hear the sound and vibration of the notifications, they never really appear on the screen. This is further accompanied by the broken quick toggles, as they also stop working for some.

While it refuses to display any alerts in the notification box, the notification bubbles continue to function. Users even continue to receive notifications on their paired watches.

After a while of the phone turned on it refuses to show any notifications in the notification bar. Notification bubbles on icons still work, and notifications are also still sent to my watch. It’s pretty annoying.

It is indeed very frustrating for users and it has led them into believing that this issue may have been set off by the sleep mode.

On the other hand, some believe that the issue occurs after using Android Auto. One of the users noticed a pattern twice and said that before encountering this bug, their cellphone was linked to wireless Android Auto.

This is occurring on my Pixel 7 Pro, but I believe it may be occurring whenever Android Auto is used. This is the 2nd time this ocurrs to me, prior to the occurrence I had my phone on wireless Android Auto.

Meanwhile, you can try restarting your Pixel devices as a potential fix. Apparently, rebooting seems to be helping a lot of people temporarily.

We hope that Google looks into the issue and comes up with a resolution at the earliest.
