Threads is a new text-based social media platform from Instagram that allows one to share their experiences, ideas, and thoughts with their friends and followers.

A member can post text updates of up to 500 characters, as well as share photographs, videos, and links. However, some users are dissatisfied with the way the platform currently displays posts in the home feed.

Option to show Threads posts in chronological order

Presently, the home feed in Threads shows a mix of posts from people you follow as well as posts from individuals that its algorithm thinks one might be interested in.

And it is difficult for one to keep track of the posts from individuals that they genuinely know and care about.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple Threads users are of the view that the developers should introduce an option to show posts from their followers in chronological order.

This would, without a doubt, make it easier to view the most recent updates from their knowns, as well as help reduce the clutter on their feed.

Some have even questioned the point of displaying posts from random people on their home feed. Others believe that the feed has been designed in this manner to give people a general idea of the platform and get them started.

Members also assert that the options to explore the general feed and search for topics, rather than just accounts should also be added.

09:38 am (IST): Mark Zuckerburg gave the idea of showing just the people you follow on home feed a thumbs up. That means, we might see this change soon.

Update 2 (July 8, 2023)

07:00 pm (IST): Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri, confirmed that the team will be implementing an option to show posts in ‘chronological’ order. However, there’s no ETA for the feature.

If anyone was asking, both Instagram and Facebook have chronological feeds options, so yes, we’re going to bring one to Threads too. (Source)
