[Updated] Threads, an Instagram app crashing when trying to upload images on iPhone? You're not alone

Mark Zuckerberg’s Twitter alternative is finally here and has already got many users flocking to the app that’s available on Android and iOS.

Granted that Threads has only been live for a few hours, it’s not surprising to see a few minor bugs and issues pop up. But there’s one major problem that some users have been noticing.

The Threads app keeps crashing when trying to upload images on iOS devices. Reports indicate that the issue happens on both the iOS 17 beta builds and the stable iOS 16 builds.

Is it me or is Threads keep crashing for anyone else whenever I select a photo. Wtf. Also I don’t like how your feed is spammed with random ass accounts from other fandoms you don’t even follow. (Source)

In my own testing, I’ve noticed the app crashes every single time when trying to upload images. I was able to get as far as selecting the image I wanted to upload but hitting the ‘Done’ button crashes the app.

It’s unclear if the team behind Threads is aware of the bug as of now, but it’s likely we’ll see a fix for the issue shortly.

Threads has quickly become the number one trending social media app on the App Store, passing WhatsApp, Facebook, and Telegram Messenger.

As far as current trends go, it does appear that Threads could indeed be a big threat to Twitter. But we’ll have to see how things play out over the next few weeks and months.

That said, we’ll keep track of the situation and will post an update if and when there are any developments concerning Threads crashing when trying to upload photos on iOS.

Additionally, there are some other issues affecting users such as missing dark mode, posts not arranged in chronological order in home feed, and Instagram users getting logged out of their accounts after signing in to Threads.
