Twitter is undoubtedly one of the biggest microblogging services in the world. And the number of users on the social media site appears to be increasing annually.

With Elon Musk’s acquisition, the platform has also undergone a number of changes and has exhibited completely different ways of dealing with online harassment.

However, sometimes such policies may not work as intended and further compromise users’ privacy (1,2).

Some Twitter users (primarily artists) have now been complaining that the platform is randomly banning or suspending their accounts (1,2,3,4,5).

I’m an artist on twt quite recently and has been posting rather quickly so twitter decided to shadowban me, how long does this last? Or can i like try and reverse it?
Source

It is not the first time we have come across an issue where Twitter accounts are getting banned for no apparent reason. In fact, a little while ago, some also reported shadow banning of their accounts without any cause.

It seems that the bug is affecting people who have alternative accounts, notably artists and vloggers. As a result, Twitter started terminating artists with several accounts or accounts listed in their bios.

Users who have their accounts banned by the platform receive a notification that their accounts have been suspended for ‘Violating our rules against evading suspension’.

Issue under investigation

Fortunately, Twitter is aware of the issue and is currently investigating the bug that is causing random bans on some artists accounts.

Team is reviewing. Thx for letting me know.

It seems that the Twitter has currently deployed some bots to keep random accounts in check under a ‘deleting old accounts’ wave. However, some claim that it was simply a poorly written code.

On a brighter note, people are now noticing that their accounts are getting restored. All they did was making an appeal against the ban.

It is a current bug going on. Code written wrong. People are starting to be unsuspended. Do a ban appeal.

So, you can also try making an appeal. Hopefully, the team looks into these reports and comes up with a fix as soon as possible.
