New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on April 10, 2023) follows:
MLB The Show 23 has been out for a few weeks and the community’s response has been mostly positive. However, the game does have its fair share of flaws, bugs, and issues.
We’ve previously reported issues with the ‘pinpoint pitching’ on Xbox and even freezing and connectivity-related problems in the online and co-op mode. Unfortunately, the problems don’t end here.
MLB The Show 23 cooldown timers
MLB The Show 23’s online and co-op mode are plagued with freezing issues. When the game freezes for a player, they are left with no option except for quiting or leaving the match.

But here’s the problem, every time they leave a match due to the game being frozen, they are met with a temporary ban or a cooldown timer (1,2,3,4,5,6) that puts a fullstop on their gaming session.
These cooldown timers are not short either. They can last anywhere from a couple of hours to even 10 hours in some extreme cases. As summed up by a player, they are surely a night ruiner.
My co-op group gets a 2 hour ban because other people quit and it kicks us to the main menu multiple games. That is utterly ridiculous. What a night ruiner.

Making matters worse, you may get a cooldown timer even if your game doesn’t experience any freezing issues. If your teammate in the co-op mode leaves due to such problems, the entire group gets a temporary suspension.
This is incredibly frustrating and is ruining the experience for a lot of gamers. Some have taken to social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit to report the problem.
dont care how about we fix the constant freezes in online modes and if someone closes the application they get a ban, are we supposed to sit here with the game frozen on our screen to get XP?

I gotta love it when YOUR product freezes or crashes and then I get a 58 minute ban. Keep up the great work. Your product sucks.

Players are especially annoyed because they are getting penalized for something that is the game’s fault. Sadly, there is no real solution to this issue at the moment.
But you can avoid the penalty or cooldown by staying in the frozen state until the match ends. While this is not a perfect workaround and might waste a lot of your time, it’s still better than a 2-3 hour ban.

MLB The Show 23 developers are yet to comment on the issue where players are getting cooldown timers for leaving frozen matches. We’ll keep an eye on this matter and update this story to reflect important developments.
Update 1 (Apr. 20, 2023)
04:52 pm (IST): Multiple players are still experiencing the freezing issue which results in cooldown penalties upon exiting the game, and there is no official word on it (1, 2).
